BET’s “Hot Ghetto Mess” already in trouble; State Farm/Home Depot pull sponsorship

hot_ghetto_mess(007-logo-med).jpgVarious websites, including EURweb.com , are reporting that BET's upcoming show Hot Ghetto Mess is already losing sponsors due to its portrayal of negative racial stereotypes.  The show is an adaptation of the popular website HotGhettoMess.com.

According to EURweb, State Farm Insurance Cos. and The Home Depot have released statements confirming their request that ads be removed from the television show and from a Web site promoting the series.

The show hosted by Charlie Murphy is scheduled to premier Wednesday, July 25 @ 9:30 p.m. CST.  It's going to be a long two-weeks.  I'll be surprised if this one makes it to the light of day.

Thanks to Wayne Hicks of Electronic Village for the heads up.
