Friendship-West to host “DON’T GET IT TWISTED WIDE OPEN: Can You Handle the Truth”

On Saturday August 25, Friendship-West Baptist Church will host DON’T GET IT TWISTED WIDE OPEN: Can You Handle the Truth? The event will be a community forum where youth and parents deal with issues currently effecting teens. So many times our parents and youth have difficulty communicating with each other and dealing with the issues that impact their lives everyday.

The goal of Don't Get It Twisted Wide Open is to challenge our youth & parents to ask the question Can You Handle the Truth? Topics of discussion will include:

Communication/Family/Youth/Parent/Grandparents/Guardians

Education/High School/Diploma/College; truancy

Peer Pressure;/Gang; Teen Alcohol/Drug; Abuse

HIV/AIDS; Teen Dating/Sexuality; Teen Domestic Violence

Teen Age Pregnancy, Suicide & Depression

Friendship-West's Baptist mentoring programs Ashanti-(females) and D.I.O.P.-(males) as well as H-Y-P-E-Helping Youth Pursue Excellence will connect with both the youth & parents in dealing with these issues in a WIDE OPEN town hall forum on how to handle the truth. There will be free entertainment, food, fun activities, free school supplies, free physicals & immunizations.

Note: All students must register online at www.friendshipwest.org or phone registration (972) 228-5346 and attend the forum in order to receive school supplies, immunization & physicals. A Pass Card will be given after the forum for all who have registered to obtain physicals, immunization, lunch & school supplies.
