Dallas man cleared of rape charges after 27 years in prison

Dallas County's record-setting list of innocent inmates cleared by DNA testing grew on Wednesday when officials learned that Charles Allen Chatman could not have committed a rape for which he has served almost 27 years in prison.  Dallas County will set another innocent man free, as officials have learned that Charles Allen Chatman could not have committed a rape for which he was convicted. 

According to a story by Steve McGonigle of the Dallas Morning News, State District Judge John Creuzot has scheduled a hearing for Tuesday morning during which he is expected to order the 47-year-old man released on a personal bond and find him to be innocent. Dallas County's list of innocent inmates cleared by DNA testing now stands at 15, the most in the nation.
