Is Dallas Star-Telegram far away? Dallas/Ft. Worth papers to share sports
The Dallas Morning News and the (Ft.Worth) Star-Telegram have announced that they will begin sharing resources for their Sports sections starting Feb. 1. In the deal, the Morning News will cover the Stars and Mavericks beats while the Star Telegram will cover the Rangers.
Apparently this will not affect the columnists, and there was no mention of the Cowboys in the article whatsoever.
The craziest part of this to me is that this story appears on Page 5 of the Morning News’ business sections as if it’s an afterthought. Even more interesting is that the story is listed as “from wire reports.” I can see that about stories out of D.C. or New York, but there wasn’t anyone in the building to throw together a couple of paragraphs and get writing credit out of the deal?
So how long before the two papers merge and become the Dallas Star-Telegram? It can’t be far behind. The article also mentions that the papers began to share photos and artwork last year. I should start getting better acquainted with Funky Town Ft. Worth if I want to keep my freelance gig.
