THE NATIONAL NAACP 100TH YEAR ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATED BY THE DALLAS BRANCH
February 4, 2009 – Dallas, Texas – In honor of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP) organization’s 100th year anniversary, on February 12, 2009, units across the country will simultaneously host celebrations. The Dallas Branch will commemorate this day with an event at the African American Museum, 3536 Grand Ave, in Fair Park, Dallas, Texas from 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.
Over seventy (70) local organizations have received Letters of Invitation to both attend the celebration and be sponsors for the commemorative event. Sponsors will be honored during a special presentation that evening. The Brimm Brothers Band, Featuring Adrienne White will entertain the guests as they hear the triumphs of the NAACP and enjoy refreshments.
The NAACP is the nation’s largest and oldest civil rights organization. Members have spent the last 100 years protecting and advancing the civil rights of people of color. Its mission is to monitor public and private institutions and ensure the political, education, social and economic equality of rights of all persons in communities.
“The Dallas Branch is dedicated to taking direct action to correct the integrity in institutions and make sure quality education is a priority for our children here in the City of Dallas,” stated President Dr. Wallace. Another task of the Dallas Branch is to increase its’ membership to 7,000 by the NAACP National Convention in July this year. Annual membership is $30.00 and is the life blood of our organization.
Donations of $10.00 are being requested of individuals. Sponsorships opportunities beginning at $100.00 are available to businesses. The Dallas Branch NAACP has been in existence since September 22, 1918.
